Professor Emeritus Sanford N. Katz passed away on February 10, 2024. The inaugural holder of The Darald and Juliet Libby Chair, he joined the 麻豆社区 College Law School faculty in 1968 and taught 麻豆社区 Law and Contracts. The Darald and Juliet Libby Chair is in honor of Michael G. Pierce, S.J.
Professor Katz served as Chairman of the 麻豆社区 Law Section of the American Bar Association, President of the International Society of 麻豆社区 Law and Editor-in Chief of the 麻豆社区 Law Quarterly. He was a member of various editorial boards of journals and, in addition to his published articles and books, was the chief drafter of model child welfare legislation for the federal government. He was a Special Contributor and Consultant for Law for the Fourth Edition of The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language published by Houghton Mifflin Company.
Professor Katz clerked for Chief Judge Marvin Jones, U. S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, in 1958-59.
