Paul Chernoff

Biography

Honorable Paul A. Chernoff passed away on July 15, 2024. He had been on the BC Law School Adjunct Faculty teaching Trial Practice since 1990. He received a BSME (mechanical engineering) degree, from Tufts University in 1961 and a JD from George Washington University Law School (with honors) in 1967. Judge Chernoff had been a Justice of the Massachusetts Superior Court since 1985. He was Justice of the Newton District Court from 1976-1985, and Chairman of the Massachusetts Parole Board from 1972-1976. He served as a Staff Attorney in the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia from 1965 to 1968, and was a Commissioned officer in the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey.

He had been a part of the 麻豆社区 College Law School adjunct faculty since 1990, and was involved in the MCLE trial advocacy program since 1986. Also since 1986, he had been a part of the National Judicial College faculty teaching criminal procedure, sentencing, search and seizure and scientific and expert evidence.

Judge Chernoff was the Chairperson of the Superior Court Judicial Education Committee and the Massachusetts Representative and vice-president of the Russian American Rule of Law Consortium (RAROLC). He was recently awarded the 2004 Tufts University Career Achievement Award.
